Workflows (Business-Process-Management)
Using Workflows can coordinate business processes and individual tasks. Workflows can be applied to lists, document libraries and content types. This can occur with or without user control. The following workflow forms exist:
Status forms show the user status information and provides links to data from external systems in MOSS 2007. InfoPath forms can also be integrated in workflows to provide a comfortable and convivial environment as a Forms Server built with MOSS. Through the Forms Server and the Integration of Infopath forms you can freely define data connections developed and controlled by a workflow. The integration of Outlook email accelerates form based processes and expands the design possibilities.
Events play an important role in programming. In connection with lists workflows use the Event Handler / Receiver primarily to control events, eg when a document is created or a user performs a specific action. Regarding events, you can control the basic behavior of SharePoint and map complex business processes using workflows. With the help of the K2 Design Surfaces you can integrate web browsers, Visio, Visual Studio and SharePoint within complex processes, which are directly available in SharePoint. To work with K2, there is no developer or deployment knowledge required. Every department of your company can structure their own processes without any professional training.
